Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo Photos Leak; Expect the Handset at MWC

February 5, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Some time ago, the web had been flooded with stories of a new Sony Ericsson smartphone that was to come. The mobile phone has made a re-entry by way of a leak, and the handset is now being called the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo. The device will now be launched at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011 which will get underway in a few days at Barcelona.

The handset had been sought after ever since the first leak. The Neo is being described as a well constructed phone and the manufacturer is getting all praise for the Android properties that have been incorporated.

The phone which runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, had been touted under the codename MT15i earlier.

By the end of last year, Sony Ericsson had registered trademarks for Xperia Arc, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo, and an Xperia Duo.

Though we anticipate seeing all the four devices at Mobile World Congress this time round, we feel the Neo could be at the centre of attraction at the company podium at the Barcelona venue.

The Duo, Arc and the Play models, meanwhile, have already become familiar to the tech world, as the images of the phones had been leaked earlier more than a couple of times.

TechRadar has splashed on its pages a handful of photos of the Neo. From what we get to see, the device is to come with a Vivaz-like exterior  and will boast of a 4-inch LED-backlit LCD touchscreen with 854×480 pixels resolution.

The phone will be powered by the next-generation Snapdragon platform with 1GHz processor and Adreno 205 GPU, 512MB RAM, an 8 megapixel camera with Exmor R sensor, LED flash and 720p video recording capabilities. Further, the makers have thrown in a video-call camera and rich connectivity options.

We are heading for MWC to earn a chance to play with the Neo. Are you going too?
