Palm Pre 2 on Verizon, Release Date Expected on Feb 17

February 4, 2011, By Alex Ion

Palm Pre 2 is getting another chance, this time from Verizon. An internal product page on a third party retailer website is detailing the device in all its glory before release. According to the document, the Pre 2 will launch in all channels starting February 17th.

Releasing a Palm on the heels of another big launch just doesn’t sound right. At the moment, Verizon is being bombarded with pre-orders for the iPhone 4. Also, releasing the Pre 2 after next week’s HP announcement on February 9th, makes no sense. So better take this with a pinch of salt before getting, in case you did of course, too excited.

For those who aren’t familiar with its specs, the Pre 2 is Palm’s flagship smartphone. It runs webOS 2.0 on a 1GHz processor, has a 3.1-inch 320×480 resolution HVGA display, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and a slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard. Other specs include 16GB of memory, WiFI& Bluetooth connecitivity, a built-in GPS, accelerometer, ambient light, and a proximity sensor.

Are we talking about the wrong place, wrong time and wrong hardware, or does the Pre 2 actually have a chance?
