Greenpois0n Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 Finally Here; Chronic Dev Team Brings Full Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1

February 4, 2011, By Alex Ion

The Chronic Dev Team announced that their latest version of the Greenpois0n jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 devices is finally here. If the only 4.2.1 jailbreak so far was a beta version of Redsn0w, we’re now being shown that Greenpois0n RC5can unlock any iOS device fully untethered, meaning that you can finally reboot the device without having to re-jailbreak.

At the time of writing the site is offline — probably too many people trying to download it, although we’re being told that only a Mac version is available for now. That’s unfortunate, considering just how many people are waiting to jailbreak their iPhone 4 or the iPad, but a Windows and a Linux version of the tool are most likely in the work and will be showed off pretty soon.

The Chronic Dev Team haven’t said much about the new tool, except for the fact that they have a small bug to deal with. Apparently, those who used Greenpois0n to jailbreak their iDevice have reported that the WiFi icon doesn’t show up. It’s confirmed and they’ll issue a fix very soon.

If you plan on using Greenpois0n, do let us know (in the comments below) how it worked out for you. Any bugs? Any issues?
