Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc on Three Network in the UK this April

February 2, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Remember the teasers of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc that had been spotted around the CES 2011 venue at Las Vegas last month?  The immensely attractive, ergonomically alluring piece of smartphone had then been presented as a slim handset, laden with a single-core Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a  4.2-inch touchscreen that packs 854 x 480 resolution. The Android  2.3 Gingerbread device is now being readied for release in the UK over the Three network.

Carrier Three has confirmed that the phone with an 8 megapixel back-illuminated camera that sports HD capabilities will reach customers this April.

The carrier tips the device as an impressive smartphone with HD video recording capabilities, and it owes much to the Exmor R sensor and a face detection feature that would let uses share top quality flicks.

When we say slim, we mean the Arc is really thin with the thinnest point measuring just 8.7mm. Further, we just fell in love with the display specs, as the device’s screen will come powered by a mobile Bravia engine.

Three will be launching the phone on its 3G network , thereby promising an enhanced mobile experience. It seems like the phone could ride on multiple networks and not just on Three.

We get to know that the Arc has been displayed on the O2 web page. Also, Vodafone is likely to get the device too.

Three hasn’t yet let out cost details. But then, in case you haven’t been told as yet, the a SIM –free variant of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is available for pre-order at Play.com for £449.99. Three and may be the other two carriers too, would announce their prices soon, Stay tuned.
