Sony will be bringing out the DSC-HX100V, which is the company’s newest addition into its Cyber-shot lineup, in April 2011. With a lot of features and functions, the camera will be competing in the super-zoom segment on the market.

What has it got? Well, to start with it has a 27 mm Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar T lens with 30x optical zoom. The DSC-HX100V is also the first camera in the Cyber-shot series to come with a 16.2 megapixel “Exmor R” CMOS sensor.

All this high flying optical components means that the camera can spawn crystal-clear images of up to 4608×3456 in size and capture full HD videos of 1920x1080p @ 60 frames per second.

Images can be viewed on the camera’s 3-inch 921,000-dot Xtra Fine LCD display with wide viewing angle.

Other distinctive attributes include Intelligent Sweep Panorama (HR) mode, which will help you to shoot an image in panoramic view. You will just have to press the shutter button and sweep the camera to get up to 42.9 images in 10480×4096 resolution.

Then there is also the 3D mode for both Panorama and regular stills, whereby the camera takes 2 snaps of the same frame in different focal lengths to calculate the depth and combines left-eye and right-eye images.

The Dual Record mode handles video while simultaneously capturing 3-megapixel digital still pictures (2-megapixel in 4:3 ratio when recording in MP4).

GPS and AVHCD video support makes this long zoom camera all the more exciting. Dedicated buttons for still and video shooting makes it easy for consumers to switch between the two.

Image stabilization is provided even at extended zoom courtesy of Optical SteadyShot with Active mode. The view finder is FLC (FerroElectric Liquid Crystal).

Powered by a rechargeable NP-FH50 battery, the camera weighs 577g (approx.) and measures 122 (W) x 87 (H) x 93 (D).

The DSC-HX100V is surely going to be worth every penny, and it is coming with a price tag of $450.
