HTC Inspire 4G to be released by AT&T on February 13th for $99.99: Low price tag attributed to competition from Motorola Atrix 4G

February 1, 2011, By Shawn Wagnon

The release date for HTC Inspire 4G on AT&T in the US does not seem to be all that wonderful and if you consider the competition that it needs to step up to, maybe the launch date was indeed destiny. But HTC and AT&T will hope that is not the case, especially after they have announced to offer a 4G handset for just $99.99.

Apart from the whole February 13 thing, what really spooks HTC Inspire 4G at this point is the probable launch of the much talked about Motorola Atrix 4G. Then there is matter of many HTC mobiles starting to look generic and too close to distinguish at times. There is the HTC Thunderbolt that offers stiff competition as well. But still, the fact that Inspire 4G will be the first AT&T handset with Android and HSPA+ should do it some good.

While AT&T talks about 4G, it is quick t point out in its press release that speeds are not quite “4G-like” and one should not expect the same hanks to “very limited network coverage”. What is working for the Inspire 4G is the mobile hotspot feature from AT&T, the 4.3-inch super LCD display, 1 GHz processor and an 8-megapixel camera with HD recording.

There are a few more applications thrown in for social networking and all, which seems about mandatory but there is also a feature that will enable you to pinpoints your mobile on the map, in case you happen to lose it. Now that could come in handy at times! A two year deal for $100 does not seem bad for the HTC Inspire 4G, unless you wish to wait around for Atrix 4G.

So, what will it be?
