Untethered iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak to be unleashed by Geohot after the launch of Verizon iPhone 4: Untethered version of Redsn0w 0.9.7 Release delayed as well

January 31, 2011, By Shawn Wagnon

Remember Geohot and his famous Limera1n? There are those who loved the fact that he just went out and released it plain and simple and others close to the jailbreak community who though he was stupid and wished to preserve their own shatter for later use after that. No matter what, the guy is quite a big shot in his own domain. Now rumors are that Geohot might release the untethered version of iOS 4.2.1 after the launch of the Verizon iPhone 4.

Reports clearly state that Apple has already blocked Greenpois0n on iOS 4.3 and once the CDMA Verizon iPhone is indeed out, you may not be able to use the current jailbreak that is working well with iPhone 4 on the CDMA versions. That obviously requires a new shatter exploit and apparently Geohot will release the untethered version of his jailbreak to facilitate the new iOS 4.3.

While we are still awaiting the final version of Redsn0w 0.9.7, it will be interesting to see if we will have at least one of these guys releasing the untethered jailbreak versions that should work for most Apple devices after February 10 (that seems the date).

With Sony winning its battle against Geohot in regards to the Playstation jailbreak, expect someone to be turning their attention with all the vengeance back to Apple… Jobs does not approve. Do you?
