MSI’s WindPad 100W tablet is now available through Simply Electronics in the UK. The tablet, which runs the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system, is retailing for the equivalent of $650.
The device, which is based on the Intel “Menlow” platform for mobile devices and includes the Atom Z530 1.6GHz single-core processor, comes equipped with dual video cameras, a G-Sensor gravity detecting device, and an ALS light sensor.
The tablet features a 10.1 inch touchscreen, an SD card reader, USB 2.0 slots, a mini HDMI port, a 32GB SSD for storage and comes with 2GB of DDR2 RAM. It measures in at 274x173x18.5 mm and weighs 800g (with battery), and also comes with support for multitouch.
The WindPad 100W is said to have a battery life of “over 6 hours”. This makes the tablet more competitive than some other Wintel Atom tablets such as the HP Slate 500, which delivers less than 5 hours of battery life.
But if you are not much of a Windows fan, MSI is expected to release the WindPad 100A tablet with Android OS sometime in the very near future. We will let you know as soon as that happens. So stay tuned.
