Notion Ink Adam Tablet Arrives with Update Problems

January 25, 2011, By Leo Xavier

Notion Ink’s iPad killer, the Adam tablet, started to ship last week, and now, those who had preordered the device are happily unboxing it. But it appears that the device has arrived with a software update problem.

As we had reported earlier, the new device is coming with a firmware update. But several folks who tried the update are reporting that the update doesn’t quite download all the way, and unknown repercussions are also taking place.

But don’t get worried about the problem because the company is working on it, and it has now blocked the update from its end. You can check out the instructions at Notion Ink Fan.

But the company has not given out a hint on when the corrected update will be available. We will let you know as soon as we get info from Notion Ink.

The device started to arrive on doorsteps yesterday. Therefore, most likely a few devices were only affected.

But this problem will certainly be a big disappointment for Notion Ink, and there is also the doubt whether this will affect the sales of the tablet in the future. But what will clearly affect the sales will be the initial reactions from the customers.

And from the info that we had received from our sources, it appears that the first users of the tablet are not satisfied with its performance. The device was reportedly slow and the update made the situation worse.

But if there are actually big problems with the tablet, we can just hope that Notion Ink will sort out all the issues within a very short period of time.
