Nokia MeeGo-Powered Tablet Images Surface; Is this for Real?

January 24, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

A leaked image of a tablet device featuring the Nokia logo, has spurred speculations go wild. Rumors abound that the device is indeed the forthcoming MeeGo-Running Tablet from the Nokia stables. However, no other specs are out yet and that gives no strength to the grapevine talk.

A handful of pictures, now out in the open, show the tablet device with the Nokia logo on the front and center of device’s body. Though there’s nothing unusual about a Nokia logo on a device they make, this is the first time that a bold logo that has been centered on the landscape is being displayed.

Both the recent Nokia devices – N97 and N900 – have their Nokia logo placed off-center.  What adds power to the speculations is that size of the brand imprint comes almost similar to what we had earlier seen on the N8 model.

MeeGo is an open sourced mobile operating system and is essentially put to play in mobile devices and hardware platforms such as netbooks, information appliances or tablet computers.

Rumors have it that the device features a 4.5-inch display and the piece featured in the leaked picture could be either an internal test device, or a prototype up on which the actual hardware is modeled.

Well, we just hope more details of the device will surface soon. The discussion on the leaked images, which has popped up from nowhere, is taking the centre stage as to this is the Meego device that Nokia has been working on for quite some time now.
