New Xbox Live Update Disables Illegal copies of Call of Duty, Halo: Reach, and Resident Evil 5

Yesterday, any gamer that signed on to Xbox LIVE, they received an update to the console. Needless to say, the update was very minor. It only re-enabled the “Boot to disc” option.that many didn’t even know was gone. That’s all the Xbox Team told us. Apparently, the update did much more than that.

The update hindered pirates the ability to play their illegally obtained games, which is a good thing. Microsoft seems to have added this little hidden gem behind all of our backs and that’s not something to complain about.

Illegal copies of Halo: Reach, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as well as Resident Evil 5 have been affected so far. It’d be safe to assume that other games will also be added to this list.
