LG Optimus Pad with 3D?

January 20, 2011, By Christian Cawley

Optimus seems to be one of LG’s main brands at present, with mobile phone handsets running Android and Windows Phone 7 wielding the name.

Does the LG Optimus Pad come with a 3D display?

However it is also been tagged onto their new Android tablet device – a 10-inch device what will apparently come with a 3D screen and recording via dual webcams. Like many other current 3D portable devices, the LG Optimus Pad (as good a name as any for now) will not require 3D glasses but will instead employ an auto-stereoscopic system, effectively displaying a simultaneous image for each eye, something that will no doubt require some calibration.

Hardware-wise, the Optimus tablet is believed to feature processing courtesy of the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core CPU while USB and HDMI ports have been reported. There is currently no fixed value in circulation for onboard memory, suggesting that like the Apple iPad the LG Optimus might just offer more than one version.

Whatever you think of LG and their hardware, the presence of Android 3.0, a quality processor and a price apparently as low as £250 in the UK could see this tablet lining up as the key device in the Android tablet market.

Expect more details at the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona, which runs from 14-17th February.
