HTC 7 Pro Available February

The keyboard version of the HTC HD7 has been formally christened the HTC 7 Pro – and will be available to buy in the UK from February alongside the Android-powered HTC Gratia.

Sporting Windows Phone 7 and all of the HTC add-on apps, the HTC 7 Pro has pretty much all of the same features as the HTC HD7, with the addition of a slide-out keyboard, enhanced by a small pivot for the display to tilt up, making viewing the display easier.

The HTC 7 Pro runs Windows Phone 7

Windows Phone 7 handsets have a minimum spec, but the HTC 7 Pro is up there with the high end devices, boasting a 3.6 inch 480×800 WVGA display, 1GHZ Snapdragon CPU, 576 MB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage (no word yet on the 16GB version if HTC intend to keep parity with the HTC HD7), a 5 megapixel camera (with a powerful LED flash) SRS surround sound, 3G, Wi-Fi and EDGE and various proximity, light, compass and gyroscopic sensors.

It’s pretty much a match for the HTC HD7 although there is no real evidence that any user needs a hardware keyboard for use with their Windows Phone 7 device. The software keyboard boasted by the platform is by far the most impressive Microsoft have ever offered and allows for extremely quick input and spellchecking.

Naturally the HTC 7 Pro will feature the software keyboard in tandem with the hardware keyboard – it will be interesting to see which gets the most use.
