January 19, 2011, By Christian Cawley

At the press launch of the new Nintendo 3DS device today, a March 27th launch date was confirmed for the new mobile games console which combines 3D games, 3D video and 3D photography.

Nintendo 3DS Launch Date March 27th 2011

Launching with two colours – obsidian black and aqua blue – the new console is notable for offering 3D without the need for 3D graphics, and uses this processing to allow you to snap and enjoy 3D photographs and watch 3D video clips.

Throughout the launch various clips of 3D video games were displayed, a 30-title list that includes Super Street Fighter 4 3D, PES 2011 3D, Legend of Zelda 3D, Ridge Racer 3D and many more.

As you may know already, the Nintendo 3DS will also play older gen DS games although these aren’t likely to use up as much battery life as processing the various 3D imaging that is required for the new range of games. In fact seeing exactly what is on offer in terms of graphics and 3D, not to mention the traditional touch-sensitive display, it’s pretty amazing the deisgners managed to get battery life as high as 3-5 hours.

To there we have it – the Nintendo 3DS is finally out in the open and available to be snapped up from March 27th 2011!
