LG has confirmed that its latest smartphone, the Optimus 2X that was unveiled at CES in the beginning of this month, will be launched in the UK in February. It appears that the device will be the first dual-core handset on the market in the UK.

This confirmation from the company has come after Expansys listed the device on its website. At Expansys, the device is having a price tag of £499.99 without contract and a release date of February 21.

As you might know, the device is the worlds first dual core smartphone. It is equipped with two 1GHz processor cores and runs the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

But LG has also confirmed that the device will get Android 2.3 Gingerbread, although it is not known whether Gingerbread will come as an update or whether the device will be launched with Android 2.3 on board.

The device also offers a 4-inch 800 x 480 pixel resolution capacitive touch display, and has an 8 megapixel camera (with LED flash and autofocus)on the rear, a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, microSD card support (up to 32G), A-GPS, USB 2.0, Bluetooth, WiFi, and many other features. A 1500mAh battery is also included in the package.
