The specs list of the BlackBerry Torch 2, RIM’s latest smartphone that is headed to AT&T, is out. The device, which will be released on the carrier’s network sometime around the third quarter of this year, looks very similar to the original BlackBerry Torch.

As you might know, RIM’s BlackBerry Torch was not at all a very competitive device to be released on the smartphone market. But the company is highly hopeful about the new device, the Torch 2.

The new device, which will be running the BlackBerry operating system 6.1 and measures 14.6mm thin, will feature a 1.2GHz processor with hardware acceleration. This will be happy news for those of you who were not satisfied with the original Torch’s 600MHz CPU.

The Torch 2 has a Horizontally-sliding QWERTY keyboard, and will come equipped with Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Tri-band HSPA 14.4Mbps and a 3.2-inch VGA capacitive display with a resolution of 640 x 480.

The device will have 8GB of built-in memory and 512MB of RAM. Other main features include a 5-megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, NFC, Magnetometer, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor and OpenGL ES.  A 1300 mAh battery will also be included in the package.

And although the device looks similar in design to the original Torch, its being said that it is basically the same on the exterior except for a matte silver finish.
