Sony Ericsson New Ultra Slim Phone Teaser Spotted on Banner at CES Venue; No, It is not the PlayStation Phone

January 5, 2011, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The Vegas venue for CES this year is all decked up and ready to witness many an announcement and debut. Chances are that when you walk through the venue you might notice a Sony banner put up, and man, it has something hidden in it.

Call it a teaser! Sony Ericsson seems to be telling the world through the CES banner about an as yet unannounced smartphone. Thanks for the guess, but it is not the Sony PlayStation Phone (also called Xperia Play) they are talking about. They are not even the other unannounced phones likely to be known by the names of Hallon and Anzu too.

The banner hanging outside the Las Vegas Convention Centre at CES hints at a phone which could be an ultrathin model. Talking of the size, it looks like it is just a tad thicker than the 3.5mm headphone jack featured alongside.

We may have to wait for the Sony press conference at CES  that will be organized on Wednesday evening. The new handset might be shown then.

Meanwhile, we hope you have already heard that the PlayStation phone announcement is being pushed beyond  CES 2011. It is expected that the device would be made official at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month.
