Nintendo has announced that its Nintendo DS line of handheld gaming consoles has become US’ best-selling video game system of all time. It appears that the DS has claimed this top spot by surpassing Sony’s PlayStation 2.
Since the original model was released in 2004, the Nintendo DS family of consoles has sold more than 47 million units in the US.
And it appears that the company has more to be happy about since its popular Wii console sold more than 7 million units for the third consecutive year in a row.
The company says that this feat has never before been accomplished by a home console in the history of video games.
The company expects that it will achieve more this year also as it plans new portable technology and more great Wii games for the coming months.
As you already know, the company is expected to release its 3DS portable gaming system this March. The new gaming system will let players view 3D content without the need for special glasses.
And it appears that a worker at one of Nintendo’s factories has leaked high-resolution screenshots of the Nintendo 3DS. The worker apparently smuggled a unit off the assembly lines and took the console home to take some pictures. Check out one of the images below and you can take a peek at the rest of the images here.
From the images, it seems that the upcoming console sports a different texture than what’s seen in earlier photos, and it appears that the “Select”, “Home” and “Start” buttons have been flattened.
And a leaked video, offers an insight into 3DS’ physical size in comparison to the Nintendo DS Lite and the original bulky Nintendo DS. Check it out.
