Inspire 4G for AT&T Becomes Official; HTC Inspire 4G Specs & Features Confirmed

January 5, 2011, By Alex Ion

Following the announcement that the HTC Inspire 4G for AT&T was spot advertised in the RollingStone magazine, we can now confirm that AT&T went official with it.

Announced today during the AT&T Developer Summit, the Inspire 4G is not just another smartphone, it’s a beefed up monster with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display and an unibody design inspired from the EVO 4G. Under the hood it features a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 4GB of internal storage. It runs Android 2.2 (upgradeable to 2.3 after launch), has the latest version of HTC’s Senes UI and features an 8MP camera for high quality vids and photos.

But there’s a drawback. AT&T is advertising the Inspire 4G as a 4G mobile, but they don’t say that their network is not really 4G.

AT&T’s upcoming LTE infrastructure is not yet operational, so you’re going to get only HSPA+ speeds. On top of that, we’re hearing that the Inspire 4G is not compatible with the aforementioned LTE network.

Pricing and availability have not yet been announced for the HTC Inspire 4G but we expect it to be in line with the other 4G smartphones announced today. to get a full hands-on of the Inspire at the show tomorrow so stay tuned for photos, video and first impressions.
