Verizon HTC Thunderbolt 4G: First look at the 4G LTE Android Handset formerly known as HTC Incredible HD!

December 30, 2010, By Shawn Wagnon

It is now indeed official. The Android-based handset once known as HTC Incredible HD has been indeed renamed by Verizon Wireless as the HTC Thunderbolt 4G. Probably Verizon wanted the emphasis to be on the 4G part of the name and the technological advance the new 4G LTE networks would bring. Hence they decided that the marketing point of the mobile is its 4G LTE compatibility. Of course, the name will only get the handset that far and either way, the mobile that you are going to pay for remains the same.

But what we have today is the very first leaked snap of the HTC Thunderbolt 4G. It is a part of the line-up of six 4G LTE handsets that Verizon plans to unveil at CES 2011. Well, we were really hoping that the Verizon iPhone with 4G compatibility was one of those. (One in black and one in white would have been perfect!). But we might have to settle for handsets like the Thunderbolt 4G.

That said, the Android OS-based handset has already attracted many Smartphone lovers and once we get a hands-on at CES in a week or so, we might well be able to make a judgment on it. Check out the Kick-stand, the speakers hidden behind and the HD camera in the image…
