Google Nexus S Android 2.3.1 Gingerbread Update Rolled Out in the UK?

December 28, 2010, By Leo Xavier

You might remember that there was an announcement recently that the first “Google Experience” device, the Nexus One, will receive an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread in the near future, but there was no confirmation on the date of release of the update. Now, it seems that the recently launched Nexus S smartphone is now receiving its first update in the UK.

The update to the Nexus S is the Android 2.3.1 Gingerbread and it arrives over the air.

It appears that the news about the update comes via the XDA-Developers Forum, who is saying that the update is just under 2 MB, and the new 2.3.1 update is said to bring an update to the Google Maps app ( v5.0 ). The update also appears to bring some bug fixes.

But there has been no confirmation about whether the update is real or whether it has been officially rolled out.

The company might come make an announcement soon. So stay tuned. In the meantime, you can check out our full review of the Google Nexus S handset here.

So, did anybody out there receive the update? Let us know in the comments box.
