Call of Duty: Black Ops has its first DLC coming. During Microsoft’s press conference at E3 2010 they revealed that any Downloadable Content for Call of Duty: Black Ops will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 for a brief period of time. The first bit of DLC has been announced and is titled First Strike.
During Major Nelson’s Podcast special guest Dan Bunting, Treyarch Studios Online Director, announced that the First Strike DLC will launch in February of 2011.
First Strike will have four multiplayer competitive maps, including “Berlin Wall,” the abandoned Antarctic research station map “Discovery,” the rooftop map Kowloon and the Northeastern U.S. hockey rink-based map “Stadium.” There will also be a new zombie mode map titled “Ascension.”
“On this map pack, we focused a lot more on providing variety of weaponry, variety of engagement … [and] a lot more verticality, bringing some sniper opportunities to it,” said Bunting.
The map pack will cost 1200 Microsoft Points($15). Map Packs for the Call of Duty franchise generate a lot of money as seen with Modern Warfare 2’s Stimulus Pack. Selling 2.5 million map packs in the first week, this upcoming Downloadable Content could potentially double that.
