Acer Iconia Dual-Screen Laptop to Launch on Jan 14 in the UK

Acer UK has announced that its Iconia dual-touchscreen laptop, which was unveiled late last month, will be launched in the UK on January 14 2011, and it will be having a price tag of £1,499 ($2,380) including VAT. The clamshell notebook is expected to be a success as it offers an entirely new computing and touch experience.

The twin 14-inch touchscreen device comes equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor, up to 4GB of RAM and 750GB of HDD storage. There will also be optional 3G, USB 3.0, VGA and HDMI connectivity, together with audio in/out and WiFi.

Both displays have HD 1366×768 resolution, high-brightness Acer CineCrystal LED-backlit TFT LCDs and take advantage of cutting-edge technologies supporting all-point multi-touch for precise on-screen input.

The displays are protected by the ultra-thin but durable Gorilla Glass, that makes them scratch and fingerprint resistant, easier to clean and offer the same touch functionality.

There is also a multitouch virtual keyboard that can be launched from the Acer Ring or by placing both palms on the bottom display. The device runs the Windows 7 operating system.

But what everyone is doubtful about is the device’s battery power. With the two large displays, the battery life of the device could prove to be a real trouble.
