Sprint has launched the new Sanyo Taho by Kyocera, which is a new ruggedized handset that, despite having good looks, can withstand some of the harshest elements. The device is now available online and in the carrier’s stores with a price tag of $99.99 after rebate with a two-year contract.

The device can be immersed fully up to a depth of one meter for 30 minutes. The Taho features a ruggedized housing and a non-slip grip, and is an ideal device for a variety of labor industries.

Apart from being water resistant, it can also withstand dust, shock, vibration, extreme temperatures and blowing rain.

The Sanyo Taho features a clamshell form factor, and comes equipped with a 2 megapixel camera with LED flash and video capture support, GPS and Bluetooth. The phone has 256 MB of internal memory, a 1GB microSD memory card and support for memory cards up to 32GB.

It has a 2-inch QVGA TFT internal display and a 1-inch monochrome external display. The device offers a talk time of up to 6.1 hours. The handset also supports applications including Sprint Navigation and Sprint Family Locator.

The device seems to be the perfect companion for those who regularly find themselves around water. But the device is not recommended for divers though.
