MacBook Air Firmware Update Now Available Via Software Update

December 9, 2010, By Leo Xavier

Apple has released an EFI Firmware update for the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air notebooks which were released earlier this year. This move has been made by the company to resolve some display problems that were reported by some of the first buyers of the redesigned MacBook Air.

The new update is said to resolve a “rare issue where MacBook Air boots or wakes to a black screen or becomes unresponsive.”

When the device was reviewed earlier, some of the reviewers noticed flickering horizontal lines sometimes appearing on the display of the 13-inch notebook or displays appeared to be discolored when waking up from the sleep mode.

It is not known if the released update will solve all the issues reported by the customers. You might already know that shortly after the devices were launched on the market Apple had released a graphics update which was meant to resolve several glitches.

The new update is now available via Software Update for both the notebooks. Check it out and install it to see whether it works. You can provide us with your most valuable comments in the box below. Is it working for you?
