God of War’s Kratos to appear in Mortal Kombat

December 8, 2010, By Christian Davis

According to the latest issue of Official Playstation Magazine. We’ve seen crossovers in fighting games before(Link/Heihachi/Spawn in Soul Calibur 2, Vader/Yoda in Soul Calibur 4, Marvel vs Capcom series etc…) and this is looking to be a great one.

Kratos will appear on the Playstation 3 version of the game and will have his own set of moves, fatalities, and even a God of War themed level for everyone to beat each other senseless on. Kratos will not be selectable in the story mode, but being that he’s not apart of the original cast, that makes sense.

David Jaffe, director of Original God of War, was very enthusiastic about this and expressed this through his Twitter account:

LOVE that Kratos is in the new MK. So bummed he’s not in the story portion. Heard about it from Ed at E3 this year and had to keep super mum on it but man, ****ing LOVE it. He totally fits in that world. I **** you not- on some level I feel like all the characters I work on are alive and that I have a relationship with them and I can tell you, if I know Kratos- and I do!- he’s ****ing LOVING his time in the MK Universe. I bet he makes a **** ton of friends there. He should pull Zeus in and ****ing leave his ass there!

It’s really hard to not get excited about this. Kratos is already a violent, blood thirsty character and having him in the world of Mortal Kombat would be perfect. His fatality will be amazing.
