Archos Tab Line Up Gets Froyo Update; Makes Them 5 Times Faster

The line-up of cute Android tablets from Archos – models 28,32,43,70,101 – has got their much needed Android Froyo update. If you own one, you can get the update and details from here or check for it from your Archos Tab by going to ‘Settings-> ‘About the Device’.

This Froyo update brings in certain advantage for Archos tab users. The update claims to run applications even five times faster than previous firmware.

Now it is easier to synchronize contacts and calendar events. Third party applications can now be installed in storage memory if they allow running the business in that fashion. This update brings a new home screen Tips Widget and Flash 10.1 compatibility.

With this update, the Archos tablets extend support to external Bluetooth GPS receivers and run a better tethering wizrd and show more accurate battery life estimation.

To add to the viewing advantages, slideshow support has been added to gallery and photo frame applications shared through networks. Moreover, now a double tap on a picture in the floating image mode can bring out a full screen picture.

Other improvements with this update include faster USB write transfer, improved compatibility with Android audio stream volume management and a manual white balance setting for the cam crazy users.

However, there are rumors regarding certain bugs with this update like issues with sleep mode and certain third party applications and poor network sharing.
