Today, Dell have officially confirmed their new Inspiron Duo tablet/netbook hybrid. Following to a week of video teasing, the crazy looking Dell Inspiron Duo is said to be available from December, with the base model going just North of $549.

The standard model will feature a rather powerful dual-core Intel Atom N550 processor, will have 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and a Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator, while software side, it will run Windows 7 Home Premium. You can of course customize the Dell Inspiron Duo to add more storage space or a JBL speaker dock that will make it more expensive — a good $649.

Other specs include a chiclet keyboard that should be easy to type on and a 10.1-inch, 1366×768-resolution, capacitive touchscreen that can be pushed down. Speaking of which, yes, you got that right. Spin it, lock it into place and push it down; it’s a tablet now.

For the fancy at hearth, the new Dell Inspiron Duo should be available in either “Marlin” blue, “foggy night” black or “fastback” red.
