November 18, 2010, By Christian Davis

Call of Duty: Black Ops just keeps growing and growing. With over 5 million  units sold and 3 million of those people playing the game on opening night, there seems to be no stopping this new Call of Duty phenomenon.

Activision’s new game has just set an industry record and grossed $650 Million in the first 5 days of sales. Beating Modern Warfare 2’s $550 Million opening week sales.

Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for two consecutive years across all forms of entertainment,” said Robert Kotick, CEO, Activision Blizzard.

According to Microsoft:

  • More than 5.9 million multiplayer hours were logged playing Call of Duty: Black Ops by end of launch day, November 9.
  • More than 2.6 million unique gamers played Call of Duty: Black Ops in one day onNovember 9.

I’m pretty sure that Call of Duty: Black Ops has made more than Jame’s Cameron’s Titanic. Now isn’t that something.
