HP Slate 500 Doing Better than Expected, Estimated Sales Goals Smashed

November 16, 2010, By Atul Roach

Talk about buying a tablet and the majority of us will never think beyond an iPad or a Galaxy Tablet, but there are a few who’ve gone ahead and even bought the more subdued Slate 500. Now if the gossip hounds are to be trusted, HP Slate 500 sales have doubled the number of estimated sales. HP wasn’t expecting this well for its tablet form factor, and HP had a limited run of only 5,000 units ahead of launch last month. Interestingly HP went on to sell a reported 9,000 units.

I know those numbers are definitely not comparable with the iPad selling 46,000 units a day when it first broke cover, but HP will still consider it as a huge personal achievement given the initial expected sales assessment.

There is a need of a typical business tablet in the market and no real world tablet at present can boast of being a particular business centric product. The Slate 500 can be still be considered a business users tablet and that is one of the reasons for its decent success.
