The much anticipated Apple iOS 4.2 update is just around the corner and a lot of Apple gadgetry possessors are looking forward to this stock upgradation. The ones who have already unlocked or hacked their devices though are confused what this upgrade will do to their Apple gadgets and for them, their beloved iPhone Dev Team has come to the rescue.

The infamous gang has taken the onus of clearing the minds of the hack lovers so that they are clear about the risks involved if they wish to receive the stock firmware update on their iOS devices.

iPhone Dev Team has mentioned that all devices on all iOS firmware versions can be jailbroken, but the jailbreaks should refrain from accepting the update until Cydia and PwnageTool are updated. iPhone Dev Team is also confident that the users will not have to wait much for update 4. 2, which sure has the fanatics excited.

The hackers have lauded geohot’s limera1n exploit, its very own pwnage2 exploit, and @pod2g’s ipod2g-MC exploit, which together are capable of jailbreaking any iOS running device. iPhone Dev Team also mentions that the jailbreakers should wait for @comex hacks to extend his exploits to 4.2 and beyond, before accepting the official iOS 4.2 update.

For the unlocked category, iPhone Dev Team has specified that they should never update to 4.2 to keep their devices functional. You do tend to feel bad about all these suggestions if you are a thorough Apple gadgetry user, but then all this is legal now, ain’t it?
