Sony Ericsson is a pretty confused brand when it comes to manufacturing smartphones as it is still unsure about updating the Android OS on its Xperia lineage devices and amidst all this, SE is now talking about the ‘Anzu’. Anzu as per the gossip hounds is the codename for the next Xperia flagship X12 which will be running the Android Gingerbread (version 2.3) though this image snapshot shows the smartphone running Android Eclair 2.1.

We are scant on details as of now, but the smartphone does appear very slim and it will sport a 4.3-inch display and HDMI output, which implies that this device is comparable to the Motorola Droid X.

What is more is that the device features a front facing camera (so we are definitely in for video chatting) and it can capture 1080p videos. Experts have also mentioned that the Anzu falls in the same bracket as the PlayStation phone dubbed the Zeus. The common belief is that both these devices are being tested together and they feature similar screen sizes though the aspect ratio does vary.

Interestingly both these devices will be announced just before Christmas, which means the holidays will now be even more exciting.
