Facebook for iPhone and Android Updated; New Apps Get Groups & Updated Places

Right after shedding some light concerning the Facebook phone, which by the way, won’t happen, Mark Zuckerberg gave a few details regarding updates for Facebook for iPhone and Facebook for Android. And believe it or not, they’re both already available for download in the App Store and, respectively, the Android Market.

The new Facebook iPhone 3.3.1 app is going to get the recently launched Facebook Groups and an update for Facebook Places that will allow to easily tag where you are or who you are with (friend-tagging). More to it, now there’s also the option to upload an image of the place you just checked in at — which is kind of cool if you’d like to show off  to your friends just how great your stay in the Caribbean is.

Concerning the Facebook Android 1.4 app, this time it’s been given more attention. “The Android app has traditionally been a little bit behind,” Zuckerberg said, but now it includes a refresh to the notifications application, Groups and Places, and the same option to check-in and add images of the place you’re visiting. And speaking of check-ins, the buttons are said to be considerable more visible.

So, how about you folks, have you upgrade your Facebook apps?
