Apple’s iOS 4.2 for both iPad and iPhone and iPod touch devices might be released this month as promised. It is almost confirmed as the developers of various applications for the OS have been provided a final release candidate of the iOS 4.2 and Apple has asked them to make their apps ready for the update.

Prior to the current move, the developers were only allowed to submit updates for the applications that are currently going with the existing versions of iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod touch, 3.2 for iPad.

The company had demonstrated the new OS back in September during an iPod event and it was portrayed with new features such as AirPlay and AirPrint.

AirPlay offers the users with wireless streaming of audio, video and photos to the new Apple TV or other AirPlay-compliant devices whereas the AirPrint will complement the users with wireless printing that helps in easy printing and management of web-pages and other data.

The company has also incorporated new multitasking features for better performance and speedy operations. The software orientation lock and music playback controls will be now available on the iPhone running on the iOS4.2.

The Game Center that comes with the OS is expected to complement the gamers with an improved gaming experience. The support for more than 30 new languages in keyboards and dictionaries, including Arabic, Greek and Hebrew will be brought in as a part of the update.

The company has also issued iOS 4.2 GM, a “Gold Master” version of the OS. The iOS 4.2 GM has been offered by the company for the developers to be ready with the apps for the ordinary users worldwide.

The iOS 4.2 which is expected to be released this month will be the first of its kind which unites all three of Apple’s mobile devices under the same version of iOS. With this introduction of the same version of the iOS the company hopes to simplify the operations with the mobile devices of the company.
