Playstation Phone/PSP2 speculated as the latest excuse for White iPhone disappearance: Apple put away White iPhone 4 due to Sony PSP2 and Playstation Phone potential release?

October 29, 2010, By Shawn Wagnon

We heard more than one reason earlier about why the White iPhone is being pushed back by Apple. The one we just got past was the ‘not able to match the white keypad with the white case’. Before that it was the ‘white as color disturbs the display’. Now the latest excuse that seems to be doing rounds is that the possible announcement and release of PSP2 or even the Playstation Phone is the reason for apple pushing White iPhone into late 2011.

While we thought this was a bit far off, one cannot decline the fact that the iPhone app update did see a ‘order your white iPhone in 16GB/32GB’ option just a few days back before it was pulled out completely. Makes you wonder if the news trickling out of Sony had something to do with it! Of course, this seems very far-fetched as Apple iPhone in White is set to be a huge hit no matter what else is out there in the market.

Also, there is no guarantee whatsoever that the Playstation Phone will catch on. There are many already who think that with a limited RAM and a gaming platform that fails to integrate with other operating systems out there, Playstation Phone is set to falter. So, why has Apple postponed the White iPhone 4 without giving a reason?

Maybe they are starting to find the ‘not able to produce matching keys and keypad in white’ a bit too embarrassing to recite each time!
