Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 users kept waiting for Android 2.1 when most others are offering Froyo updates: Will Sony release Éclair update when Google rolls out Gingerbread?

If you are a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 user, then you should be pretty furious with the way Sony has treated you when it comes to Android updates and the OS that it is offering. The unbelievable fact remains that Xperia X10 users are still waiting around for an Android 2.1 update to be rolled out from Sony, when remainder of the android universe is waiting to see when and how Gingerbread makes its way out. What makes this just plain ridiculous is that they are not even going to skip the Éclair and get to Froyo update.

In what makes you throw your head back in frustration Sony Ericsson announced in a blog post that the Android 2.1 is very near! They are still struggling to bring out an Android 2.1 update for Xperia X10? At this rate by the time they get to Froyo, much of the world will probably be well past using Gingerbread. Still using Android 1.6 must be really annoying if you love the OS and it was one of the reasons you bought the Xperia X10.

The Android 2.1 update, when it eventually comes out, promises users with more apps, better UI, 2 additional home screens, more social networking options, custom virtual keyboard and HD video recording, among a lot else. So, maybe Xperia X10 users will settle for that as well… Just let it out soon Sony!
