Limewire shutdown sees users searching for alternatives: Frostwire Android app along with many more still available for download

October 27, 2010, By Shawn Wagnon

There is no doubt that shut down of Limewire has made huge impact and users across the globe have been frantically looking elsewhere for other open options. While those who are very familiar with the way Peer2Peer works and have explored it quite a bit will easily jump to other sharing platforms, many who have just used Limewire are not sure where to go next. So we decided for the sake of our unsure readers to present many options at hand. Trust us guys, there is a lot out there to keep you still as happy as when Limewire was up and running…

Frostire:

Frostwire has always been next in line to Limewire and is the next best P2P option for those who have woken up to a shutdown notice on Limewire. Frostwire is similar to Limewire in use and layout, and is fully compatible with iTunes and is available in versions that are compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux and Android.

BitTorrent:

This might sound obvious, but if you can search well-enough for torrent files then using one of the dedicated BitTorrent clients is the best way to go. There are hundreds of sites out there (like Torrentz.com) which allow you to search for Torrent files with ease. You can try out Vuze, uTorrent and Transmission in this regard.

Other options include P2P clients like Ares that work very well too, depending on your local server and where you hail from. There are many sites that still provide direct downloads like BeeMP3. So, while we loved Limewire too (and still do), jump to an alternative you feel you are most comfortable with. There are options galore and who knows; maybe Limewire will be back another day in another shape and form!
