Adobe AIR 2.5 for TVs, Mobile Devices & Desktops Rolled Out

Adobe has come out with a key element of the Adobe Flash Platform, Adobe AIR 2.5 software. Along with televisions, tablets and desktop operating systems, Adobe has introduced smartphones into the list of the devices that supports the software. The smartphone market has had a remarkable growth in the recent times and the move by the company is to expand their reach in the application market.

The new releases announced by the company include Flash Platform tools including an AIR 2.5 software development kit (SDK) which can be used by the Flash developers to maximize design and development productivity to build mobile and multiscreen applications for Smartphones and tablets.

Smartphones and tablets based on Android, iOS, BlackBerry Tablet OS, and desktops including Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems can extend the support for the Adobe AIR. Pre-installed versions of the software is said to be incorporated with variety of devices such as tablets and Smartphones from Acer, HTC, Motorola, RIM, Samsung and others by the end of this year of by early 2011. Samsung has already decided to market their Samsung SmartTV with Adobe AIR support.

The software extends its support for accelerometer, camera, video, microphone, multi-touch and gestures and allows Flash developers to create location-based applications and services by the support for Geo Location.

The company promises the AIR 2.5 to deliver rich application experiences with its outstanding features and states that it will enable the Flash developers to easily deploy a single game or application that they build across multiple application stores and devices.

Adobe AIR 2.5 and the Adobe AIR 2.5 SDK for Android and desktop operating systems including Windows, Macintosh and Linux are currently available in the market and the software could be directly downloaded by the users of Android 2.2 from the Android market. The BlackBerry Tablet OS and the Samsung Smart TV platform will get the software3 support by early 2011.
