Halo: Reach Accumulative Gameplay Time hits an astonishing 16,500 Human Years says Bungie!

Halo: Reach has challenged us as a game, surprised us as a visual treat and fascinated us with the numbers that it has put in, week in and week out, after its release. But the latest bit of trivia from Bungie has everyone batting their eyelids in disbelief. Till the latest count, 16,450 Human years have been spent playing Halo: Reach. If you thought that was monumental, then just remember that we are not counting in the accumulated time on the hacked servers!

I think this single number is enough to tell everyone how immensely popular the game has been across the globe (And how we, as a race, chose to spend our time). Here are the statistical tidbits that Bungie has been kind enough to share with us:

  • 16,450 Human years have been spent playing Halo: Reach
  • 785,000,000 Games created by players
  • 544,000,000,000 Credits have been earned by all the players
  • 4,000,000 Screenshots have been uploaded by players
  • 5,970,000 Halo: Reach files uploaded by players

So in the amount of time spent on Halo: Reach we could have crossed solar systems with ease and probably built entire cities, if not a small country or two. But then on the positive side we are not destroying the world with wars for oil interests overseas, busy building nuclear devices and spending billions on meaningless election campaigns. So, did someone tell the long line of US Presidents about this ‘gaming’ thing and that it is around?
