October 20, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The second generation Apple TV has been jailbroken using the newly-released GreenPois0n jailbreak tool for iOS 4.1. Take a look at the screenshot which is solid proof on the matter.

Reports have confirmed that the jailbreak of the new 2G Apple TV using the limera1n exploit based GreenPois0n tool was done by the Chronic Dev Team. The Chronic Dev Team member Joshua Hill, commonly known as p0sixninja, sent out the picture above in a tweet as proof of the major accomplishment.

According to a report from RedmondPie, the jailbreak will surely open tons of opportunities for Cydia developers in the coming weeks and months. The new information also suggests that the new Apple TV will be able to run things like iPhone applications and other cool tweaks, as soon as developers get working on it.

There has been no confirmation on the ETA of this version of GreenPois0n, but the release of the screenshot proof suggests that it might arrive sometime in the very near future.

So that’s bad news for Apple, since the Apple TV has only been on sale for a few weeks. What do think about it? Let us know your thoughts on the matter.
