San Fransisco, New York and Los Angeles to get Sprint 4G by Holiday Season

October 18, 2010, By Shawn Wagnon

Three major US cities are going from 3G to 4G as far as Sprint is concerned, so that the carrier can obviously take advantage of the shopping spree that is set to start with Christmas approaching. Not that this is a new idea or even a wrong one in any way, as Sprint are neither the first one nor will be the last in trying to capitalize on the ‘festive mood’. Sprint will expand its 4G coverage to New York by November 1, Los Angeles by December 1 and San Francisco by the end of December.

So if you happen to be in one of these three cities then you can experience the power of Sprint 4G before the year ends. The fact that Sprint promised its customers that many more cities would be 4G-ready by year end only means that they still have a long way to go till they become truly 4G-ready as a carrier. But you cannot fault their attempt one bit.

Sprint has been the perennial underdog among the US carriers for a while now and with Verizon now getting set for a future 4G LTE coverage, Sprint needs to get its act together and fast. If not enough of the US map is covered in those blue 4G dots soon, then they might have a real problem keeping customers!
