Nokia N900 Gets Dual-Boot Option With PR1.3 Update; Maemo & MeeGo on your N900

October 14, 2010, By Shawn Wagnon

MeeGo for N900 adaptation project is finally complete at the team that worked so hard on it’s is really proud that they have finally offered N900 users what they have been promised. Unlike other mobile and gaming console releases, Nokia has a habit of keeping its word when it comes to releases. The date with MeeGo will be no different at all.

It was back in March 2010 that we were promised a dual-boot solution for the N900, providing users of the Maemo 5 phone with MeeGo experience and now it is almost ready for release and public use. According to the MeeGo team the development of the MeeGo 1.2 release has already started.

On N900 side, the team plans to continue by integrating some interesting stuff from the latest Nokia and development repositories, including, SGX drivers, camera stack, and accelerated video decoders. While users will have an option of Dual-Boot experience, do not expect full support from MeeGo or Nokia yet as that is still some time away.

So as the wait for dual-booting PR 1.3 update continues, the question is will you be willing to install MeeGo image to your N900 handset? We are!
