Yahoo Messenger 2.0 for iPhone Now in the App Store, Adds Video Calling Over 3G

The updated version of the Yahoo Messenger is now available for download in the App Store and the best part is that Yahoo Messenger 2.0 has gone ahead and added the much hyped video calling ability to its repertoire. This video chat integration now puts Yahoo Messenger 2.0 in direct competition with the likes of Face Time and Skype as the application also offers voice calls as well.

The voice calls though will only be limited to a select number of countries which includes the United States, France, Germany, Spain and Singapore for the moment. The latest version is a bit of novelty as far as the the previous version is concerned as Messenger 2.0 offers video calling over 3G, mobile to mobile chat and mobile to computer (vice-a-versa) as well.

Those who have gone ahead and tested it aren’t too pleased as they find it slow and buggy and even when it gets working, it is of pretty low quality. Nonetheless, it is still a great option over the 3G network until FaceTime over 3G arrives.
