You might already know that the World of Warcraft, the world’s most popular and successful multiplayer online game, will receive patch 4.0.1 today. The update will add quite a lot of new features ahead of the launch of the new expansion, Cataclysm. Now, there is information available on the release time of the update.

The World of Warcraft servers will be going down today and when the servers come back online, you will be able to download the new update.

Reports are suggesting that the servers will go down at 12am PT today, and the downtime will last for 12 hours until 12pm PT. It is expected that the update may become available sooner or later than 12PM PT. Although 12 hours is a bit lengthy, the update will be bringing a lot of features that will make you happy.

According to a report from Joystiq, the update will add significant changes to the class and glyph system, as well as tons of guild tweaks and a new item reforging system should keep World of Warcraft gamers busy for some time as well.

Patch 4.0.1 will also bring about major changes to all World of Warcraft character classes, including sweeping talent tree revamps, altered spells, and improved abilities for all the main classes like Death Knights, Druids, Hunters, Paladins, Warlocks or Warriors.

But unfortunately, there is no confirmation on the exact time that the update will be available. But you will be pleased to know that there is an update page available from Twitter that will let you know when the update is ready. You can view that page here.
