Apple iPad Arriving at Wal-Mart on Oct 15

Yesterday, we had reported about a leak which was proof that Wal-Mart was getting ready to launch the Apple iPad in the coming days. Now, Wal-Mart has confirmed that the device will be arriving at its stores on Friday, October 15.

Currently iPads are only sold by Best Buy and Target (as well as directly by Apple, of course) in the US. Wal-Mart will be offering all six models of the iPad, which include both the WiFi and 3G-enabled versions in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB capacities.

The device will be arriving at hundreds of stores, but the goal is set at making the device available from 2300 stores in time for the Christmas shopping season. The iPad will also be available from the Wal-Mart website, but you will still have to go to the shop to pick up the tablet.

There is a bad news for those of you who are planning to get the device from Wal-Mart for discounted rates. All models will be available at the same prices that Apple charges.

There are rumors starting to build up that this decision for sales through Wal-Mart might be because the company is feeling some pressure from iPad rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab. But, with Wal-Mart also joining in on the action, it is expected that the company will be shipping millions of the 9.7-inch tablet in the coming months.
