GreenPois0n iOS 4.1 Jailbreak Tool put away thanks to Limera1n release: iPhone 4/3GS/iPod users let down!

October 11, 2010, By Shawn Wagnon

We built it up, waited for its arrival, hyped up its release date and then waited for a Sunday morning despite it being a ‘Sunday’ and finally we were let down. Greenpois0n Jailbreak for iOS 4.1 was supposed to be out at 10:10:10 AM on 10/10/10 and finally give joy to all the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS users by unlocking there handsets. But it was George “Geohot” Hotz and his Limera1n that actually proved to be the jailbreak for iOS 4.1 that was actually out first!

Thanks to the release by Geohot, Greenpois0n in no uncertain terms has expressed its displeasure at the move and just put its iOS 4.1 jailbreak tool on the backburner for now. The guys at Chronic Dev Team did not mince their words as they came out calling Geohot’s release ‘irresponsible and ego-centric’. The Greenpois0n team told that the release of Limeran1 was done just for Geohot to satisfy his own ego. So the swords are out and the battle is on!

People waiting for Greenpois0n iOS 4.1 jailbreak felt both let down and a bit bitter by the sudden and unexpected delay. But the Chronic Dev Team suggests that they wish to preserve the SHAtter exploit so that it can be used after Apple patches the current Limera1n exploit.

While that sounds very proper from a technical perspective one can understand the stick that the Dev Team is taking right now. I mean after all the anticipation this did seem like a huge let down. But we though are still looking at the positive as this will mean that we already have a jailbreak to use and Greenpois0n can hold on to its jailbreak so that even future Apple devices could be unlocked with ease.

So what is your take? Did you try Limera1n? How good is it? Spread the word…
