Gears of War Composer on Life Support

October 11, 2010, By Christian Davis

Via Twitter, Gears of War Composer Kevin Riepl, stated that he thought someone “roofied” him while out drinking with friends.

He blacked out and within days he was at his local hospital on life support. He uploaded the photo you see below to twitter while in the hospital. The Doctors said that after all the tests everything is  normal, but he’s going to have an MRI to check with his heart.

Riepl has composed games for Unreal Tournament, the first Gears of War, and the upcoming Alien: Colonial Marines title. He’s done great work and the entire industry give him their blessings.

On October 1oth, his wife tweeted that he was on life support and needed blood transfusions. The doctors have’t found the cause of this yet, but I’m sure we’ll all find out after Riepl gets  out of his surgery.
