GeoHot Returns With Limera1n Jailbreak Tool for iOS 4.1 Devices; Limera1n Jailbreaks iPhone 4 & 3GS, iPad or New iPod Touch

October 9, 2010, By Alex Ion

After a long break from the jailbreaking scene, iHacker Extraordinare GeoHot is making a dramatic comeback. According to members of Chronic Dev Team on Twitter, the “Father of Jailbreak” will be officially announcing Limera1n on 10/11/10 (October 11). Limera1n is a complete new bootrom exploit and tool that promises to jailbreak and unlock all devices running iOS 4.1 — that includes the iPhone 4 & 3GS, the iPad or the new iPod Touch.

While the guys from the Chronic Dev Team are not really pleased with GeoHot returning to the unlocking scene — as they wanted him to save this new bootrom exploit for the future next-gen iPad 2 and iPhone 5 devices — we’re really excited to see him back in the game with Limera1n, exactly one year after blackra1n was released to public for iOS 3.1.2.

p0sixninja: yes, the news about geohot is true, the day after we release ETA he decides he wants a piece of the #pie

p0sixninja: and yes it is a different bootrom exploit, he wants us to use it in GP, but there’s no way we’ll make our ETA if we do

chronicdevteam: Note greenpois0n will be released as planned. if someone decides to burn a different perfectly good exploit, that is entirely on them.

chronicdevteam: It is actually him.

chronicdevteam: because his different exploit can be saved for new iphone / ipad / ipod, AND 3G S, you’d just have to wait a little longer

cdevwill: [7:45pm] geohot: eh, i’ll just steal your exploit [7:45pm] geohot: and beat you to the release Sounds like a nice guy.

How many of you have been waiting for GeoHot’s talent to be put at work again? Are you going to use LimeRa1n to jailbreak your iPhone 4, the 3GS, the iPad or the new iPod Touch?
