Sony Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera Line Up to Add a New Model

October 8, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Sony just released the NEX-3 and NEX-5, the company’s first mirrorless cameras, this spring. Now, new information is suggesting that the company might be planning to add a new model to its mirrorless interchangeable lens camera line-up.

The calendar at the Japanese website Sankebiz.jp for October 12 has a scheduled Sony announcement that the computer translation translates as: “Sony Unveils New SLR mirror-less”.

Other leaks related to the matter have not shown up. But if the present info is true, Sony would be making the introduction of the new model roughly three weeks after the Photokina expo in Germany, where most camera makers choose to unveil their most important models.

Sony had shown off a prototype model at the European event, but the company rarely releases a final version so quickly. There is no information available to support the present leak. We may have to wait for the official confirmation from the company.

We might see a new mirrorless camera from Sony, but there is also a possibility that it might be some form of a hardware update.
