Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 Android Handset Now Available World Over

October 8, 2010, By Atul Roach

Someone should tell Sony Ericsson that there is no point manufacturing Android devices running on the basic Android version 1.6 as people really do not await them. The Xperia devices have always been tolerable when you consider the hardware part, but then, the OS always lets them down. Even the latest addition to the Android family, the Xperia X8, which has been announced for a global release fails to understand the importance of a high-end Android OS integration.

The Xperia X8 is again running Android 1.6 and Sony Ericsson thinks that affordability is what bothers buyers more than the OS. The X8 is being touted as the most affordable Android handset from the Xperia lineage until date, but do potential buyers really care about the money when buying an Android handset is what Sony Ericsson should importantly think about.

The Xperia X8, just like the other models from this lineage, comes with the Android 2.1 up-gradation ‘promise’ and that upgrade will happen after the X10 gets updated implying that the wait will be eternal. Just in case you are still interested, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 would cost $300 (unlocked) for features like a 600MHz CPU, a 3-inch screen and a 3.2 megapixel fixed focus camera.
